About Julia Bowling BurnettGrowing up on a small farm in Campobello, South Carolina, Julia learned to love nature and its beauty at an early age. Her mother was her instructor and inspiration, teaching Julia how to see and appreciate beauty in all things and encouraging her to capture it on paper.

Julia utilizes the transparency of watercolor to give light and softness of color, while using the dry brush technique to add crisp detail. Her flowers and birds are true-to-life in color and shape and are combined according to season and habitat. Her paintings might seem like a slice of a memory of your favorite garden, a view from a window or a glance into the edge of a wood - a time of day or the light of a certain hour for you to keep.

Julia has been painting for her own pleasure for years while working in the business world. From 1970 until 1976, she participated in art exhibits in Texas, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. At this time she put her art on hold for eight years, fulfilling her creative energies with a gifts and decorative accessories shop, The Hummingbird, hence her trademark the Hummingbird. She resumed painting in 1984, receiving her only formal art training at this time.

Julia ‘s most recent work is a series of small “Rings” which remain true to her love of nature. Available as fine art giclee prints, they may be purchased on-line at www.juliabowlingburnett.com.
